Accessibility statement

YGG.cz is built to be usable by as many people as possible — including screen reader users, keyboard users and people with low vision. The target level is WCAG 2.2 AA for every public page and every available appearance mode. This is a personal site with no legal obligation under Czech Act No. 99/2019 Coll.; the statement is voluntary and deliberately also describes what is not met yet.

What the site meets

• ▸ Full keyboard operation including a visible focus indicator and a "Skip to content" link at the start of every page.
• ▸ AA contrast for text and controls in all four appearance modes.
• ▸ System preferences are honoured: prefers-reduced-motion and forced-colors in every mode, prefers-contrast in the auto mode — an explicit choice of the light or dark appearance takes precedence over the system.
• ▸ Content reflows into a single column from 320 px wide and stays readable at 400 % zoom without horizontal scrolling.
• ▸ Meaning is never carried by colour, motion or hover state alone.
• ▸ Decorative visualisations have a text alternative or are hidden from screen readers.
• ▸ Pages render without JavaScript; it adds search and effects, never content.

Keyboard shortcuts

The site can be operated by keyboard alone, and a few things are shortened:

The / shortcut does nothing while you are typing in a field — otherwise a slash could not be typed. The accessibility panel in the bottom right corner carries the same list, so it need not be looked up here.

Accessibility mode

Next to the light and dark appearance the site offers an optional accessibility mode: a high-contrast palette, underlined links, a strong focus indicator, larger control targets and a static background with no animation or transparency. It comes with a panel of further options:

• ▸ text enlargement in four steps (A / A+ / A++ / A+++),
• ▸ a dimmed background for light sensitivity,
• ▸ row highlighting under the pointer,
• ▸ looser line height and letter spacing.

You switch the mode in the header next to the language switch; both the control and the option carry the accessibility mark. Once the mode is in effect, the panel appears in the bottom right corner.

The choices are remembered by the browser, are never sent anywhere and do not travel between devices. The mode never turns itself on: either you enable it by hand, or the auto mode uses its high-contrast values when the system reports a preference for increased contrast.

The mode switch and the panel need JavaScript. Without it the site stays in the auto mode — content, navigation and search keep working and the system preferences still apply, because CSS carries them. Switching the language does not depend on JavaScript: the language is part of the address.

How this is verified

Every build runs automated checks that stop it on any finding: a contrast check of the colour pairs across all seven palettes including the system variants, a structural check of every published page in the four modes and in the accessibility mode with the panel options switched on, and transfer size budgets. Automation cannot cover everything, though — real screen reader behaviour, the clarity of labels and the focus order on a complex page are judged by hand.

Known limitations

• ▸ The generative Yggdrasil visualisation is purely decorative; in accessibility mode it is static and dimmed.
• ▸ A manual pass with real assistive technology has so far been only partial and is tracked as open work.
• ▸ Full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance is therefore stated as a target verified by automation, not as the result of an independent audit.
